If a woman or child accidentally touches the area where you applied the medicine, they should wash their skin well with soap and water right away. Topical testosterone can be transferred to other people after you apply it. There are multiple forms of topical testosterone available. Store topical testosterone in a safe place to protect it from theft. Keep topical testosterone out of the reach of children. Do not share topical testosterone with other people, even if they have the same condition as you. You must either stop breastfeeding or stop topical testosterone.
Talk to your care team about the risks and benefits of this medication. They will need to check the level of testosterone in your blood. Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. When you remove a patch, do not place another patch on the same spot for at least 7 days. Remove and replace the patch as directed every 24 hours, applying a new patch to a new site. Apply these patches once daily, at the same time every evening. Don't place another patch on the same spot as one you removed for at least 7 days.
Table 3 summarizes testosterone Cavg categories by treatment. Topical testosterone may increase your risk of sleep apnea, which is a condition where breathing stops and starts again while sleeping. Topical testosterone may cause enlarged breasts in men (gynecomastia) that could be painful. Topical testosterone can cause fluid retention, also called edema. Topical testosterone may lower your sperm count.
Each patch is individually pouched and supplied in cartons of 5 and 301.1 Not all pack sizes and strengths may be available. Apply to skin immediately upon removal from the protective pouch. The drug reservoir may be burst by excessive heat or pressure. Incompatibilities were either not assessed or not identified as part of the registration of this medicine. The effects of this medicine on a person's ability to drive and use machines were not assessed as part of its registration. Showering 3 hours after application of ANDRODERM increased Cavg by 0.5% and decreased Cmax by 0.4% respectively, as compared to not showering. Upon removal of the ANDRODERM systems, serum testosterone concentrations decrease with an apparent half-life of approximately 70 minutes. Inactivation of testosterone occurs primarily in the liver.
Do not use topical testosterone if you are breastfeeding. Do not use topical testosterone if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. People who are allergic to any of the following should not use topical testosterone.
